Lamination is a thin plastic coating used to alter the surface feel and add protection to a printed item. There's 3 main types of lamination Matt, Gloss and Soft touch. Soft touch is relatively new, has such a delicate feel but can also be very costly for a larger run.
We emboss in-house on our Heidelberg Letterpress using special Dies to achieve this finish. A softer material will achieve a better indent.
Hot Foil is a finishing option that enhances areas of your design. Die Cutting is used to cut shapes out of materials which a guillotine is unable. Die cutting requires a wooden cutting form. The form can cut, perforate and score the sheet.
Scoring is usually applied to materials over 150gsm this prevents the cracking of the fibres in the paper, which would show up through the ink.
We offer soft bound and hardbound book finishing. We have on site hot melt perfect binding suitable for short runs. Larger runs are outsourced with a professional print finishing company using PUR glue.
